    The Heron is an Organic Farm, Event & Wedding Venue, and Campground. A place to connect deeply with nature & art, eat real food and create lasting memories! We are the home of the Great Blue Heron Music Festival and the Green Heron Growers. For more information on our farm, our Farm Store and our Events, visit our website, theheron.org You'll notice a handful of weekends that the campground is closed or would appear fully booked; those may be times that we have ticketed music festivals happening, in which case you can find that information on our main website. Our many camping and lodging options allow families to relax, enjoy nature, and create memories. We have around 100 sites throughout our 300 acres, some woodsy, some with views of the rolling hills and some with electric service. The Heron grounds boast a swimming and fishing pond, and over 4 miles of on-site hiking trails. Located on over 400 acres in beautiful Chautauqua County, NY, we are a working organic farm with a shiitake mushroom yard and on-site farm store. We host weddings, educational workshops, retreats, private events, captivating music festivals, and much more! We offer many different options for camping, from tent sites nestled in the woods to RV sites with electric hook-ups (electric site reservations are to be made on that specific listing and are limited). We allow pets, all dogs must on a leash 6ft or shorter in length and held by an adult, there is a $20/stay pet fee for pets that can be paid prior to arrival. Beach/Swimming Rules: Two adults 18 or over are required to supervise when there are children swimming. (Even if only one child is present.) No swimming outside of the designated/roped swim area. No watercraft allowed anywhere in the pond. Do not use soap in the water, we have showers! No alcohol, no glass or open containers. On-site Phone is for Emergencies only (located in the beach hut to the left of the beach area). Creating a reservation is your agreement with this rule. Local Attractions: Panama Rocks, Chautauqua Institute, Chautauqua Lake Overland Trail (The Westside of Trail) over 35 miles of hiking, Chautauqua Gorge, Audubon Nature Center, Rails to Trails, Ellicottville Brewery, Southern Tier Brewery & Distillery, Lake Erie Wine Trail, and much more!     These sites are just off the driveway in an open field and/or wooded area accessible by vehicle (if it's been rainy recently beware you may need 4WD). There are roughly 10 sites in the woods that have been groomed and have primitive fire pits built. The field area is RV accessible while the wooded area is only vehicle (car/truck) accessible. This area tends to be quieter and away from the hub-bub of the farm and other campers, although you can hear the clip-clop of Amish buggies at night sometimes!

    Heron Horse Dispersed Sites

    Book one of these easily accessible, pull-through capable, non-electric sites, located in our "green lot" field, if you're attending one of our awesome Heron Horse events and would like to stay overnight! Please pre-pay the $20 horse fee prior to your arrival so we can have an idea of how many 4-legged friends will be on the land. We have corrals available to rent for $25 as well (also pre-pay!). The campground is pet friendly as well, $20 dog fee required. These sites are located in a field so please be mindful of the land, if electric is needed we do offer electric sites through our other listing. Be aware horses are not permitted in the electric sites as they are still open to the public for the remainder of the season. If you book an electric site, your horse may stay in the green lot field across from the site.

    Our group is relatively new to camping and we were looking for somewhere to set up for Memorial Day Weekend. I stumbled across The Heron online based on the good vibe/impression I got from the photos. The Farm itself is stunning. There’s so much to see - you’ll find hidden gems all over the property. The people who work there are wonderful - so kind and welcoming. It’s clear they genuinely care about the place and care that you experience what they love about it during your stay. They happened to be doing wellness activities all weekend, along with a May Day festival with live music. When we camp, we normally leave our campsite and venture off to hike at parks in the surrounding areas. We only left The Heron once during the weekend for supplies - we had everything we could want to do right there, so there was no need to leave. We got so much more than we expected. Certainly the most memorable camping experience we’ve had thus far. We’ll be back for their yearly music festival in July!

    Wonderful setting! Even though wet from local rains and a late arrival the on-site staff were pleasantly helpful and helped us find a dry spot to pitch our tent. Thanks so much! We really enjoyed exploring the grounds the next morning too!

    Wonderful people around - friends and family that live on site. So much to see and do, especially during Wellness Weekends with scheduled events! Please bring an eye mask, or consider camping away from the lights that line the woods paths. Some of them flash all night, and some might be angled straight at your tent!

    First time camper and Herons land exceeded all expectations! The owners and the staff were very welcoming and showed us around the campsite. We were able to choose where we wanted to stay after they showed us around. There are several portapotties available and a few shower stalls. Showers are $5. There are sinks with running around in the same area as the stalls. They even have a cute farm store loaded with tinctures, organic meats, teas, etc. They have PLENTY of firewood and ice! Herons land set the bar and we can't wait to come back!

    The park and carry to the primitive sites were easy. Nice and groomed campsites with ready fire pit. Lovely land with tons of beautiful trails. This land hosts the great blue heron music festival every year, so there’s extra added charm. The clear night sky was fantastic. Got some pork chops and eggs on my way out at the farm. Also- a plus that my dog was welcome!

    Another great weekend at the Heron! As always, we stayed in the quiet loop toward the entrance. The sites are spacious and peaceful, mostly in the woods with shade, but there are some openings of sun and an open field nearby. We love stargazing and walking the trails at night. The grounds are lovely, lots to explore. For dinner one evening, we bought steaks and chicken from the farm store and everything was fantastic. We love coming to the Heron every summer!

    I just returned from a 3 day stay here as it was 10 minutes from the Mindfullness/Meditation retreat location. It is AMAZING!!! It was quiet. I can imagine the place is hopping with the music festival. There are shower stalls - like porta potties but showers and porta potties not toilets. But PLENTY of potties ALL over!!! STARS - YESSSS you can see the whole sky FULL of stars (if no clouds). It is in the hills and it is in Amish country. You can hear the click-clacks of the horses up in the location I was in. There are a few electric sites and PLENTY of primative camping too. Over 100 sites!!! I ventured many of the trails and was in awe on how many camping sites there were throughout. They use the honor system for firewood, ice and Hay bales. They have a little store too! I loved my time there.

    Awesome stay at sites 1 and 2. It was a very quiet weekend with few campers. The sites were level and 20amp service for our camper worked great. We were able to fill our water tank with the spigot near our site. The camp store was cute and had lots of meat and poultry options for sale. It was peaceful listening to the Amish buggies on the road 1/2 mile away. Peaceful setting that was perfect for a weekend getaway. I’m sure on festival weekends it’s a rowdy place but not this weekend! Would stay here again.

    This campground gave me the peace & solitude I needed for the weekend. I had multiple sites to choose from, and ended up a bit more on my own, which is what I wanted. The sites are a good size as well.

    First time camping alone and they made it a breeze. Beautifully well maintained. Different sites for different moods. Spectacularly clean porta potties all over. Fresh water all over. I brought my bike and rode the hills for a few hours every day.

    I can't recommend this place enough. The camp site in amongst the trees was beautiful and quiet and everyone we met was really friendly. This is a great spot for bird watching too, with around 100 species on the property. The farm store had a nice selection of food including cheese, eggs, honey and meats. We will definitely be returning.

    This is truly my favorite place in New York state! We drive from Buffalo just to enjoy the atmosphere and beautiful camp grounds. The people are great, the atmosphere is both relaxed and joyous. I absolutely recommend the Heron for families, , pets, couples and friends both young and old!

    It was a very unique camp (in a good way). It found out when we arrived that there was a music festival. The people at the festival were all very nice. There was one incident with a dog attacking another dog, but it sounded like it was being taken care of.

    Huge camp ground! Two different options when it comes to what kind of terrain you like to camp in. There’s a big open field and a wooded area, both were super cool. All kind of places to fill water, the bath house was super clean and convenient, and there were plenty of places on the property if you needed the bathroom. The farm stand on the property was also one of my favorites, we got to cook dinner with meat that came right from their farm.
